The Douglas County Republican Assembly drew hundreds to Valor Christian High School on Saturday, March 19th to pick Republican candidates for the upcoming 2016 elections.

Representative Kevin Van Winkle (R-Highlands Ranch), received unanimous support from the Highlands Ranch delegates in attendance.

“Thank you Douglas County Republicans! I’m truly humbled and honored to accept your nomination to run again, to serve a second term in the Colorado House of Representatives,” said Van Winkle. “Special thanks go to the HD- 43 Chairman, Craig Steiner, for running a fair and open House District 43 Assembly, to Dr. Dix Winston, for opening the meeting in prayer, to Matthew Burcham, for leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and of course to my dear friends, Jeff Wasden and Laurie Bratten, for their terrific nominating speeches.”

While the Douglas County Republican party has now voted to exclusively back Rep. Van Winkle, there may still be a contentious primary race ahead. Other candidates may avoid the Republican party, and petition on to the primary ballot by April 4.
